The play "Pathetic Monologues" is written by the young writer and actor Teimuraz
Rekhviashvili. Its action unfolds in a theater with a usually familiar scenario: at the funeral of
a deceased actor his colleagues gather at the theater to give speeches, perform scenes from
plays and show films featuring the deceased. Through spoken monologues, the life and work
of the main protagonist, the late actor Archil Kiacheli, along with his human concerns and
problems, as well as the Georgian theater world, are revealed. The author aims to depict the
feelings, thoughts and everyday life of a person working in the field of culture, outlining the
current socio-political situation around us with his characteristic style of narration, which
blends humor and eloquence.
Review
The repertory policy of the theater company "Haraki" is aimed at researching the problems of modern society,
its essence, reason, "identity". lia Korkashvili's "Pathetic Monologues" based on Temo Rekhviashvili's text is
also a part of this trend, but differs from other productions of Theatre with lively and effective satire charged
with humor, with a sharp "revision" of reality and a free, flexible and delightful expressive performance of
artistic solutions.
The main mode of action of "pathetic monologues" is to "expose" pathos, fakeness, lost values, sincerity,
sincerity in art (theatre) and life (being). A person/spectator who is familiar with today's Georgian reality can
easily find the modern prototypes and typical situations in the characters and events of play. And for those who
are not familiar, the performance will create an idea about the artistic group, the existence of such a direction in
the latest Georgian theater and directly about the ongoing processes in Georgia.
But not only, it will give an opportunity to discover how a modern young artist - director, scenographer,
dramatist, actor, musician – evaluates and perceives, what he thinks, what he sees - what he is like, how he
reveals his citizenship position and what he does, how he acts to change the unacceptable rules of life.
