Do not leave the room.
This room is a familiar pensée; chaos will satisfy you completely — especially now,
when neither Europe nor Asia lies beyond us — only despair.
While we can no longer afford bread, or even make fake soup,
the “European family” will disown us — and we might perish.
Neo-feudal capitalists stifle the young,
soiling the airport doors with their boots.
Don’t leave the room.
Fight the hysteria.
Understand — you must be bold to speak without a geographic tongue.
Like that 5 a.m. tutorial on giving a paperclip new functions,
you too can become “functional.”
It takes courage to want to live here.
When the only "solution" is self-employment —
but even that exists outside your country,
when your ceiling salary is twenty lari,
when the threat of starvation is not theoretical…
City Theater is a fully independent, multifunctional space — one that we are literally building with our own hands. For the past three years, we’ve been working to create a place where theater lovers, students, and emerging artists can connect with the inner world of theater: to see behind the scenes, witness the process, engage with a real working environment — and create themselves.
With us, student directors, set designers, actors and other aspiring artists take their first steps. They are actively involved in every aspect of production — from set construction and costume creation to the countless details that bring a performance to life. We are also supported by volunteers — young people from various universities who are directly involved in physically building the space. They arestanding on the foundations they’ve helped lay.
This year, despite serious challenges — a difficult national climate and a four-month strike — we still managed to stage seven premieres. It was a season marked by hardship, but also by resilience. And we believe the productions that premiered on our stage were a true success.
