“Maelstrom” refers to a powerful river current off the coast of Norway, a term derived from the words “grinding” and “current.”

This whirlpool, like a mill, drags and destroys everything in its path. Yet, people often find themselves drawn into the maelstrom by their own choices.

The play explores the rivalry between modern, fleeting worlds: city versus village, machine versus nature, rich versus poor, evil versus good, unbeliever versus believer.

In a world dominated by telephones and cars, earthquakes—both literal and metaphorical—strike frequently, caused by humanity’s misguided way of life.

Georgian Regional Theaters Network (G.R.T.N.)
