Graduated from Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film State University with a major in Theatre Studies.
Over the years, Zaza has taught the history of Georgian and world theatre at Tbilisi State University of Culture and Arts. He worked for the publishing house of the magazine Theatre and Life, published by the Georgian Theatrical Society, and for over two decades worked at the Ministry of Culture of Georgia.
Zaza served as Chief Scholarly Editorial Consultant for Theatre Arts at the Georgian Encyclopedia. In the print media, he has published numerous reviews, dialogues, research papers, and profile essays.
