Ana Kvinikadze

Position: theatre scholar, cultural manager, and Doctor of Arts
theatre scholar, cultural manager, and Doctor of Arts. She was awarded her academic degree cum laude in 2024 for her thesis titled “Gender in Western Theatre History (From Theatre's Origins to 2000)”. She is a Guest Lecturer and International Relations Coordinator at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University. Since 2019, she has served as the Head of the International Relations Department at the Sokhumi State Drama Theatre. From 2016 to 2021, she was the General Director of the Iron Theatre – Andghuladze Arena.
She has participated in numerous international art programs and projects, theatre festivals, and academic conferences in Germany, Sweden, Spain, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, South Korea, and beyond. She is a co-author of three textbooks on the history of world theatre and the author of a number of academic publications.
Under her direction and editorial guidance, several foundational works in theatre theory have been published in Georgian for the first time, including “Towards a Poor Theatre” by Jerzy Grotowski, “Environmental Theatre” by Richard Schechner, “Postdramatic Theatre” by Hans-Thies Lehmann, “A Dictionary of Theatre Anthropology: The Secret Art of the Performer” by Eugenio Barba and Nicola Savarese, as well as collections of plays by Heiner Müller and Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
Since 2023, she has held the position of Project and Communications Manager at the International Association of Theatre Leaders (IATL – International Association of Theatre Leaders).
